James Prosek: Domestic, Wild, Divine: Artists Look at Animals

Contemporary artist, naturalist, and conservationist James Prosek, whose work is on view in Domestic, Wild, Divine: Artists Look at Animals, discusses his artistic process as well as his conservation initiatives with Mitchell Merling, Head of European Art and Paul Mellon Curator, VMFA. Prosek, who is a curatorial affiliate of the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale and a member of the board of the Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies, has had his work exhibitedat the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT, and the Nouveau Musee National, Monaco, among other museums. A major survey exhibition at the Addison Gallery of American Art is scheduled for 2013.

Following the talk, the artist will sign copies of his latest book, Ocean Fishes: Paintings of Salt Water Fish, which is available in the VMFA Shop.
