Common Senses
As a participating artist in Morgan Puett’s Mildred’s Lane Complexity several works are part of the installation at MoMA Studio space (4 west 54th street, New York).
On November 15, 12-4pm James Prosek will discuss his work as an artist and naturalist, concerning themes of how we name and order the natural world, the future of taxonomy and the limitations of language in describing biological reality. He will also talk about the eel—a creature that does not fit easily into a specific category in our minds—as well as an eel fisherman who operates an old stone fishing weir in Hancock, NY near Mildred's Lane on the East Branch of the Delaware River.
Prosek is writing about The Mildred’s Complexity as part of his next book on naming nature.
